1.1 What is eRegs?

Last updated June 15, 2026
Applies to: All account types

eRegs is a digital platform that replaces printed regulation books with an interactive, always-current reader for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and, optionally, the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs). It is designed for anyone who needs to reference, distribute, or stay current on motor carrier safety rules.

Who is eRegs for?

  • Safety managers who reference regulations daily and need to know the instant something changes.
  • Fleet managers who distribute regulations to drivers and must document acknowledgement receipts for their DQ files.
  • Drivers who need on-the-go access to the rules that govern their work.
  • Enterprise organizations with multiple safety managers, terminals, or regions that need centralized oversight.

What is included?

  • Full text of 49 CFR Parts 40, 376, and 380 through 399 (the FMCSRs).
  • Optional add-on: 49 CFR Parts 171 through 180 (Hazardous Materials Regulations).
  • FMCSA guidance and interpretations mapped to each regulation section.
  • PHMSA Letters of Interpretation for HMR sections (when the Hazmat add-on is enabled).
  • Trucksafe educational videos, articles, and podcasts on FMCSR compliance.
  • Highlights, notes, and bookmarks you can attach to any paragraph.
  • Full-text search across regulations, guidance, and Trucksafe content.
  • Regulation change notifications so you know when text you care about is amended.
  • Driver invitation and acknowledgement tracking with downloadable PDF receipts.

How does the text stay current?

eRegs syncs directly with the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR.gov) every day. When the Federal Register publishes an amendment, the updated text appears in eRegs automatically. If a section you have annotated changes, you will receive a notification and can review exactly what was added, removed, or modified.
