3.5 Using eRegs on Managed or Locked-Down Devices

Last updated May 14, 2026
Applies to: Fleet Manager, Enterprise

Many fleets use Mobile Device Management (MDM) software or network restrictions on company-issued phones and tablets. If eRegs URLs are not whitelisted, drivers may see a blank page or error when trying to access the regulation reader or acknowledge regulations.

Domains to Whitelist

Ask your IT administrator to allow the following domains on managed devices:

Domain Purpose
eregs.app Main application — regulation reader, acknowledgements, account
*.eregs.app Any subdomains (future use)

Network and Firewall Requirements

  • Allow HTTPS (port 443) to the domains listed above
  • No special ports, protocols, or VPN configurations are required
  • Bandwidth per acknowledgement: approximately 200 KB
  • Bandwidth per regulation section: approximately 50–100 KB

MDM Configuration

For fleets using common MDM solutions (VMware Workspace ONE, Microsoft Intune, JAMF, Samsung Knox, etc.):

  1. URL whitelist: Add eregs.app and *.eregs.app to the allowed URL list
  2. Browser access: Drivers need Chrome or Safari — eRegs works in any modern browser
  3. Cookies: Ensure cookies are not blocked for eregs.app — eRegs uses a device token cookie for ongoing reader access
  4. No app install required: eRegs is entirely web-based. No APK or IPA file, no app store access needed. Drivers can optionally install eRegs as a PWA for quick home screen access, but it's not required.

For Tablet Mode Specifically

If you're using Tablet Mode with shared in-cab devices:

  • The tablet needs a browser (Chrome recommended) with access to eregs.app
  • Bookmark the tablet URL so drivers can access it easily
  • If using a kiosk or restricted browser mode, add the tablet URL to the allowed list
  • The tablet URL looks like: https://eregs.app/tablet/abc123...

Troubleshooting

  • Blank page or error when tapping acknowledgement link: The device is blocking eregs.app. Ask your IT team to whitelist the domain.
  • Can't install as PWA: Some MDM policies prevent PWA installation. This is optional — the full app works in the browser without installing.
  • Push notifications not working: Some MDM solutions restrict service workers. Push notifications are optional — all core features work without them.

If you continue to have issues with managed devices, contact support with your MDM platform name and we'll help you configure it.
